South Coast Inclusion Network (SCIN) Inc advocates for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, Intersex and Queer (LGBTIQ) people and culture to be acknowledged, affirmed, supported and celebrated.
SCIN Inc provides evidence-informed interactive workshops for mainstream service providers including healthcare settings and local councils regarding LGBTIQ inclusive practice. We use a lived experience storytelling approach to influence the ‘hearts and minds’ of participants and increase their commitment to improving the health and well-being of LGBTIQ people in the local community.
Ask Me Anything (below) is one of nine short films SCIN launched in 2019 to promote LGBTIQ visibility and inclusion in rural and regional towns. It is also a fun way to get to know us a bit before you check out the rest of the SCIN website. ENJOY!
The photo on the right was taken during the filming of the Magic 5 outside Mitchell House, Wonthaggi. For the International Day Against Homophobia, Intersexism and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT) May 17th 2020 SCIN released this film publically to send a message to the Gippsland community encouraging everyone to ‘Be one of the Magic Five’.
In 2020 SCIN Inc and our project partners are working towards offering free peer support; storytelling workshops and Lived Experience (LE) speaker training to LGBTIQ people and groups across Gippsland to assist them to advocate for change in their own communities.
SCIN acknowledges the Traditional Owners of the land and pay our respects to their ancestors and elders past and present. Please take a minute to watch this beautiful Welcome to Country – Bass Coast by the Bunurong Land Council.
